5-Steps to Achieving Your Travel Goals
Change the story
What are you telling yourself that’s blocking you from clicking book and boarding a plane? That you can’t afford it? You can’t take time off work? You don’t have anyone to travel with? Our lives are made up of the choices we make. And our thoughts inform our choices. How can you choose to tell yourself a more empowering story?
Know your travel “why”
When you know why travel is so important to you, it’s easier to let go of the expenses, commitments that get in your way. The trick here is to ask yourself why not just once, but multiple times until you get what’s really driving you on a soul level. Try it. Why do you want to travel? Now think about your answer and ask yourself why you want that? And again. And again.
Set the right priorities
“If you don’t have time, you don’t have priorities.” – Tim Ferriss. You can think of money the same way. Simply put, creating priorities means putting what matters most, first. When you’ve clearly mapped out your priorities you’ll find clarity on how to clear the clutter from your life and dedicate more time and/or money to your travel goals. Make an achievable plan
Reducing overwhelm is the key to starting and successfully completing any goal. How? Break down big goals into smaller milestones, and even smaller daily tasks that will help you reach those milestones. Alignment = intentional action.
Create new habits
As business guru Marie Forleo says, success doesn’t come from what you do occasionally. It comes from what you do consistently. Instead of giving yourself a monstrous goal to achieve and an intimidating to-do list, focus on creating and maintaining habits instead. End each day feeling like you’re making progress, not defeated by some impossible task.
